October 7 Ya sorry that i didnt write an email last week i didnt really have a ton of time i was supposed to go to the hospital but didnt end up getting there anyways :( this last week was pretty tough i am having to deal with a lot of pain which is never fun! and i dont really like it! but BIG NEWS! i got transferred today! i left elder GOmez to have fun all by himself in ALA Campus! but i have returned to the city of curitiba! my area is called PINHAIS and my new comp is ELDER SANCHEZ! he seems super cool! Sept 23 This week flew bye! oh my goodness, like it feels like i was just here writing my last email! but this week was super busy! full of super fun stuff! it rained a ton the beginning of the week! and was hard to be able to meet and teach some new people but me and elder gomez got called up to be part of a "band"! hahha not really but we were called to do an apresentation of music in this place called Telemeco Borba. which is the most dangerous city in the state of Parana Brazil. so we went there friday night and stayed the night in the house of the elders there! we had 10 elders in the same house! so we didnt get much sleep that night and woke up early saturday morning so we could practice! so me, another elder, and 3 sisters (one of them is sister taylor from oklahoma and she knows a ton of people from az so if you know you just know me and her are now homies)were apart of the singing group and then 2 other elders playing violin and then elder gomez jammin on the piano...

Sept 16, 2019 What i found out this week is............. that people are scared of salvation! This week was pretty tough, we started off working really hard! it just started spring here so people are starting to come out of there homes and staying in the street! which is the best for missionaries! but my allergies are trying to kill me! i had to go home 2 times this week because my eyes where closing shut and i couldnt stop freaking sneezing hahahah! but we were able to invite 2 women to be baptized and they were both understanding everything and understand that need to be baptised to return to their heavenly father one day and then when i invited them to be baptized and to realçy change their livese for the better they both got super worried and gave the "i think that i need more time" answer which is like the worst answer ever! but if they really want it and they keep doing the right thing the spirit will get them there!  stay happy, Elder Shumway pics cra...

Sept 9,2019 This week was a wild time! it rained a ton and i met a ton of new friends! i hit & months! Got an ultrasound! BAPTIZED!!    we baptized this 11 yaer old girl named mariana! she is super cool and was so excited to be baptized!   did a division with elder johnson! hes so cool and played soccer at uvu before he came out on the mission!  There are a ton of frogs here! pics frogsfrogsfrogs, dead possum, dog on a wall, 7 months pizza elder johnson, baptism!

Sept 2, 2019 OKAY SO CRAZY STUFF HAPPENED THIS WEEK! so first week here in Campos was a little rough. So im finishing the training or Elder Gomez! hes super cool and from spain and really determined to just turn all the bad missionaries into good ones! but he'll have to wait to turn his next comp into a good one cause im already super good HA!  But lets get to the title! OKAy so thursday we were on our way to lunch and elder gomez told me that this Irma is a little strange and has a few problems and i jsut thought yeah okay thats fine everyone here has problems haha. so we get there and this Irma has a brace on her arm. we said hi then she went into the other room to yell at her daughter about something. she then came out and said sorry to us and asked elder gomez if had already told me about their daughter and her problems. which he DIDNT! then she came out of her room and stood in the kitchen and wouldnt even look at us! Aug 26,2019 WHAT a week! so this will be pretty short but this week we invited a ton of people to church and evryone said that they were super down to come! so me and elder souto were super excited! we were planning on have 14 people at church! but as we went on the round up either they were sleeping or running away from us. literally had a lady run out her house and away from us to leave as fast as she could so she didnt have to go! so we only had 1 person in the church!  SO today was transfers and yes i know i just got a new companion last week! but im am now with ELDER GOMEZ! hes from spain and speaks 4 languages! and i will finishing his training! I am also back in GOODE OLE Ponta Grossa! I went from a super rich area to a more humble area and im ready to get to work baby!     NO pics this weeks sorry.. Stay Happy Elder Shumway

Aug 19,2019 Yeah so this week something big happened! so on thursday this week i was doing divisions with elder carroll, this really cool guy from salt lake, this is his first transfer so it was really cool to see how far ive gone from being where he is now, not speaking very much, always confused, and just kinda lost. to where i am now, being able to talk to random people in the street, really feeling like this is where i belong hahaha. but the next day we were supposed to have interviews with president. so we wokeup early and got ready and went to the mission office. we got there and elder lima got there with elder carrolls companion and the assistents came up to me and elder lima and told us we needed to return to our house and lima needed to pack his bags cause he was getting emergency transferred! it was quite a shock but we got his stuff and came back. i got called into presidents and we had a good talk about some rules that werent being followed and asked me if i had anyth...

Aug 12,2019 this week was not on for the books! this week i did two divisions, one with the asistent to the president Elder Kroff, and Elder Robbins! and they are both going home in 2 weeks! it was really good too spend sometime with two americans who both have had really tough times on the mission but also a ton of success! they both told that almost all the american missionaries start off their mission and right after training they  get put with difficult companion becuase president trusts americans more than the others hahah. but they said as soon as you get out of that faze and start becoming a better missionary you just have straight success and happiness hahah. so its good to know that this tough companion stuff will end at some point haha  our baptism this week kinda fell through cause lilian is like 73 and doesnt know how to work her phone and didnt tell us she wouldnt be home for our appointments. but we found her wednesday if she was ready for saturday and she ...

Aug 5, 2019 Im not gonna lie these last few weeks have been pretty rough for me. my companion elder lima doesnt have the best of luck. he doesnt have the best knees, back, health pretty much hahhaha. and these past 2 weeks hes been having extreme pain in his stomach. so weve been to the hospital 2 times and we thing he has a stone in his gallblader or something. so we havent been able to work as hard as i would be liking and its really hurting my excitment to be a missionary! im really praying that he can get better soon so we can work hard or this transfer something changes for the better because its been 9 weeks since ive really had a good day of hard HARD good work! and my injury from jumping on that bull about an month ago has really been present this week! but on the brightside! this saturday we hopefully will have a baptism for Lilian! this sweet old lady who just loves the church!  we had stake confrence yesterday and something that really stuck ...

July 22 2019 whats good everyone! hahah sorry there was no weekly email last week we had transfers and i didnt get to my area until super late! but hey GUESS WHAT! I GOT TRANSFERRED HAHAHAHAH im super happy if you cant tell. Not gonna lie my last companion really put a damper on the mission so far! he does have a special place in my heart like all my other companions do! butright now im with my man ELDER LIMA, hes from Fortaleza Brazil. and we are truely the biggest companionship in the mission hahah i think together we are a WOPPING 510 LBS! hahah so we are "opening" a sisters area i think because the sisters got assulted in this area last transfer so why not send the two biggest elders that way hahah! this week we had the opeertunity to meet all the members in the ward and everyone is really just a big family really ready to spread the gospel! we have recieved a ton of refrences and the ward has a mountain of people who come every sunday that are n...
